While Tesla vehicles leave the factory with Michelin tires, majority of tire manufacturers now offer Tesla tires as well. We carry all popular brands, including Michelin, Continental, and Pirelli. They are the “TO” designated tires, and they are manufactured with the sound dampening foam.

Electric vehicles, including all Tesla models, tend to wear our tires much faster than internal combustion engine powered cars. There are three primary reasons for this:

1. Acceleration – Tesla vehicles sure are fun to drive, but the price we pay for all that torque and acceleration is faster tire wear.
2. Regenerative braking – regenerative braking extends EV range, but it also causes accelerated tire wear.
3. Weight – the weight of the battery pack adds substantially to EV (including all Tesla models) weight. Heavier vehicle causes faster tire wear.

Because of the accelerated tire wear, regular tire rotation is highly recommended. It evens out tire wear and extends tire life. At Crown City Tire we recommend regular tire rotation even if your Tesla has different size wheels in the front and the back – in this case we recommend left-right (aka side-to-side) tire rotation. While it’s not as beneficial as the X pattern or Cross pattern tire rotation, it still offers value.
